Tri-Cities Junior Amateur Championship

Overview

The Virginian Golf Club has hosted the Tri-Cities PGA Junior Amateur Championship for the past 20 years.  Local juniors have played in this event for the title of Tri-Cities PGA Junior Amateur Champion.  There are 8 different age divisions between boys and girls to compete in and NCAA golf coaches are usually on-site for the event.  


Juniors who live in the Tri-Cities PGA Chapter counties, or belong to a club in those counties are eligible for the Championship.  Juniors will average their three best scores from Tri-Cities PGA Junior Amateur Series events and Sneds Tour events to determine who qualifies.  Juniors must play in at least 1 Tri-Cities PGA Junior Amateur Series event (if they play on the Sneds Tour) to be eligible.  The top-scoring averages in each age division will be invited to the Championship.

Format:

July 24will be an individual stroke play qualifier that will determine players for day two match play.

July 25 will be the match play championship for each division.



Eligibility

To be eligible for the Championship, juniors must meet the following requirements:

1.  Juniors must be between the ages of 8-18 years old.  Age determined as of June 23, 2023.

2.  Open to juniors who live in the following counties or is a member at a club in these counties:  Tennessee - Carter, Claiborne, Grainger, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, Washington.  Virginia - Lee, Scott, Washington, Wise

3.  All juniors are welcome to participate in the Tri-Cities PGA Junior Amateur Series events.  Juniors from the above counties are the only ones eligible for the Championship.
